Got a 24 in a 20 camera ticket at the Canal Blvd school zone near Harrison. Do we pay these or just throw them in the trash? The ticket states it’s a non-moving violation. Does it go on record or are they just trying to steal my $75?

What say you?

Cheaper to get a new license plate. Rack up a few tickets first if you aren’t gonna be parking in the city.

Haven’t thought about it. I don’t think I’ll make it in Central.

Wasn’t there a lawsuit against these cameras stating they were unconstitutional or something?

Nvm I see that it was illegal up until 2010 when they moved it under the NOPD

Alot of what the cameras do is bullshite, but this may be the most bullshittiest thing I've heard in regards to them.

Aren't all speeding tickets "moving violations"? I'd think they'd have to be.

If you don’t live here or ever park on the street here, toss it.

It’s a civil fine, city and state does not recognize unpaid tickets as criminal

Once in default if you park on the main streets in Nola and they scan your plate and see you are an offender they will boot your car and demand repayments along with a fine

Park on sides street uptown or pay for parking

Replace license plate is another option

I thought so too. I guess because I’m under a certain mph it’s non-moving. Idk

Live here for the next 6 months at least, and park on the street in downtown a couple times of month when me and the wife go out for dinner.

Tell that to the squirrel you murdered right after you were caught "not moving".

Either a speeding ticket is considered a moving violation or it isn't. Just because the bullshite camera "catches you" and an officer didn't see you doesn't mean they can just go changing the meaning of the law. This is just another of the many problems with the damn traffic cameras.

It’s called due process and in this instance the lack of facing your accused , i.e a police officer catching you speeding, stopping you and you either sign the ticket to appear on court or you don’t

I got a 24 in a 23 in a Nola school zone recently. They got you by 1 mph, 23 is the grace period for the 20 mph limit. Latoya lowered the grace period to offset turning off some of the cameras. This has actually made everyone more likely to get tickets even though less cameras are activated. Also the school zone hours are ridiculously long.

Nothing will happen if you don’t pay, EXCEPT if you are parked and they are scanning license plates at that time. They can scan your plate and boot you. I’ve seen it several times but not a ton.
