Yeah this doesn't seem like a big deal at all. Usually the people that are mobile banking only run into the issue the other way.

I.E. if they need a large amount of cash on short notice they have no way to get it (bank ATMs usually have limit per day, and you have to make a ton of small withdrawals so getting 5K $200 at a time is annoying). So he'd be asking to write you a check, and then you deposit it at your bank to give him cash...which I could see why you would question but even then if he's a friend and you have the money is also not a huge deal.

I'd even hesitate to do it once unless maybe I was light on cash. The friend is basically saying "going to deposit cash is a pain in the arse, so you do it".

Also, who actually deposits cash into the bank anymore? Is this guy a stripper?

Direct deposit paychecks, use PayPal/venmo/quickpay/etc or credit/debit, and only withdraw cash when you need it for something.
