WWOTD - Disposal of Real Property

Due to a death in the family (Wednesday night), I need to dispose of a small house on a small plot of land in a medium size city in the East. I inherited it several years ago. Belonged to a family member (husband and wife) who lived in it for over forty years. Most items of value have already been removed. Anything left only has sentimental value (at best). House is in (at best) disrepair (another family member was living in it). It is in a crime infested neighborhood. It is fully paid off. I have no emotional ties to it whatsoever. I am focused on getting it cleaned up and disposing of it for the least cost. Any recommendations on how to legally dispose of it? I do not want to have any legal ties to it when I am done.
(This should be good)
ETA: My apologies. I am in the military stationed in the South. Currently in Texas and being moved to Florida in June. We will (more than likely) not see the house again after the funeral next week. So I have to get someone (as a minimum) to represent me on this when we are gone.
ETA2: The house has been mine for a few years. However, a family member was permitted to live in it rent free (a huge regret). Now they have died I want to sever all ties with it.

Convert it to a crack house.

Start an LLC, transfer property to LLC, quitclaim to another LLC, do this 3-4 more times, then sneak up on someone and stick the deed in their bag while they're not looking.
Or, you could...sell it.

If you own and you don't want it, sell it.

Sell it?
There are certain realtors who specialize in crac... I mean rent houses. There are plenty of slum lords out there who will buy it.

If you don't think you can make any money on it renounce the legacy in writing.

List it for cheap and someone will buy. There's people out there who look for this exact type of property to buy...something they can buy really cheap, do some renovation work and then either flip it or rent it out.

quote:Just guessing, it has a market value of $10,000 (more than likely much less). However, it is in the middle of a bunch of slum dwellings and is not desireabe in any way. And I still have to clear it out (lifelong smoker occupied it).
Or, you could...sell it.
In your experience, are there auction houses that handle estates like this?

Couldn't you just not accept it?

Why don't you just donate it to a church in the area?
If you're not down with God or whatever, you can donate it to Goodwill/Salvation Army, women's shelter, etc.

Sure. Charleston, West Virginia.

Sounds like more of a hassle than anything.
Why do you HAVE to accept it? I'd imagine you can just say, nah no thanks, I'll pass, right?

it would be a shame if it burnt down

I would call a real estate agent in the area and tell them you want it off your hands as soon as possible, and tell them you want them to handle everything and tell you where to sign.
Minimal effort and you might make a couple bucks.
