problem is the one w/the 405 mile range is the S and that one is $100k.
the 3 has a range of 358 so it's kind of hard to swallow that roughly 65 extra miles of range somehow costs $45k more.
I'm interested to see what the Chrysler Airflow is going to cost b/c Stellantis is claiming it will have a 400 mile range.

It’s more than just the range. That’s like comparing a BMW 3 series to a 7 series.

Great for a daily commuter car.
Great for a day when everything goes according to plan on your commute and afterwards.
If you have to run a bunch of errands and unexpectedly need to drive a distance for a family emergency or something?

Still more than the average auto price.
I'd consider an electric vehicle when reasonable distance comes with a reasonable price. Tesla Model 3s are pretty blah for that price.

Texas is going to have a bad time when their grid fails from too many of these things “quick” charging at once.
WTF does Texas have to do with this article? And how many years do you think it’ll be before even 10% of the vehicles on Texas roads are EV’s? 2 decades? GTFO here.

Or, just a rent a car like a normal person should you do any extensive traveling
I don't consider that normal.
Don't know why anyone that owns a vehicle would.

I see what you are saying but aside from the extra storage I just don't see the interior of being such a big upgrade that it warrants such a massive hike.
I'm just not a fan of the Tesla's spartan interiors anyway so there isn't much they can do to wow me on that front. I do admit I prefer the look of the S b/c it doesn't remind nearly as much of an Apple Store as the X does.
Of course I haven't driven either so I fully admit I can't really give a fair comparison of the two.
I just think that when you're getting an EV the range is the most important thing to most buyers and it seems like a mistake to me to not have their cheapest model have the ability to have their longest range.

My neighbors do this every time. I thought it was strange, but it is about $350 a week and if they have any car troubles they get a replacement.
Plus, there is no car faster nor better at offroading than a rental.

Driver appears to have the body of a 12 year old boy. I'll pass.
Glasses will work though.

Depends on the person really. We’re picking one up next weekend and I honestly didn’t even think about the range. We’ll never take it further than San Antonio and honestly it might never leave the Houston inner loop. We take my GX almost everywhere out of town.

What kind of payment plan will you have if you don't mind me asking?
I want an EV or at the very least a plug in hybrid for our second car but so many of them have stupid prices for what you get. At least w/Tesla I feel like I can trust their charging network a bit more at this time.

We’re trading in her IS350 (they offered more than carmax for it) and got financing through Tesla for 3%.
Agreed, Tesla is the only one I would consider for quite a while due to the infrastructure and battery tech. I’ve done a ton of work with Tesla and understand their degradation and systems pretty well. The cold weather issues, battery life, etc of the others just isn’t there yet because they’re all playing catch up.

They can also turn off your charging shite with the flick of a switch and you're going nowhere.
You could say the exact same thing about power to a typical gas station.

You can fly Nola to Chicago round trip for dirt cheap, less expensive than driving. Although maybe not right now under the current administration.
