I have a tacoma. However many of my buddies have jeeps and we offroad them quite a bit. Except for rock crawling and serious mud, tacoma is better in every way. I guess also the "cool factor" but tacomas are pretty damn cool.

Love mine, that said I'm looking to get a jeep to weekend offroad with.

Yep... you can't take the top/doors off of a Tacoma. Pretty awesome when the weather is nice.

So your Tacoma is better at driving on dirt roads???

Jeeps are for fun and a truck is for truck stuff. If you want to enjoy driving, get a Jeep. If you just want to drive, get whatever else it really does not matter.

Tacoma cannot match top down and doors off.

i had a Rubicon once. I had always had visions of riding around with the doors off and top down, drinking beer and 4-wheeling. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Then you realize that there are about three weeks out of the entire year that it is remotely comfortable to ride around with the top down and the doors off.

You will need to start doing coke daily with all the money you will save with the Toyota.

I've seen more jeeps broken down on dirt roads than i've seen tacomas.

It's coming down to the same 2 options for me... Pics below. Leaning towards the Tacoma though.

Sure you have, we all believe you.

Of course Jeep has outsold Tacomas here in the USA, so there is a probability of that being true based off recent sales numbers.

Depends how far you need to drive to get you to the trails, and how agro you want to go once you get there. A Tacoma can comfortably get you to the Sierras and go on plenty of trails once you're there. It's not going to get you access to the most gnarly ones, but most of those rigs show up on a trailer...or leave on them.

TRD pro grill upgrade is a little over $300.

Look at the back seat for both. Tacoma has more room. It is almost impossible to fit two average size adults into the back seat of a Wrangler. You have more room on an airplane.

I just sold my 08 Wrangler Sahara (4-door) in October and got a Tacoma TRD Sport Double Cab (4-door).

While I love both, I give it to the Tacoma. Drives/rides better, gas mileage is some better. While I haven't had my Tacoma long, it's given me no issues. The Jeep did give me issues from time to time, luckily never anything major, but enough for me to feel like it was no longer a great vehicle for a daily driver.

They both top their category for holding value.

Just buy the Tacoma and be done with it. You've got a bed for hauling and an overall vehicle that you won't have to worry about. Jeeps are awesome machines and second to none on a nice Saturday morning but it seems that you need an every day ride. My cousin and very best friend fell into the jeep trap and now he's stuck with it because he's severely upside down. He loves it but regrets it more times than not because he misses the efficiency of his truck.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the fact that tacomas can fly and wranglers can't.

That should end the discussion right there.
