At the local level, fire unneeded administrators and support staff. Use the freed money to raise teacher pay.

Capable men. This is why you get a vote for your local superintendent of education

Gov Landrys support for vouchers is completely tied to the fact that he can dole out a multi million contract to a friend of his to administer the program. It’s all about corruption

Helllllllllll no.
I know not all low income kids are bad but there is a massive difference in the way kids act in low income public schools and private schools.

ETA: I should add my source on charters receiving vouchers works pretty high up in the LADOE and we've butted heads often as he's a heavy proponent of them
I thought we were talking about texas.
Are you talking about GATOR?

Yes, I’m talking about how it will work for Louisiana which I’d imagine will more or less reflect what Texas ends up doing

I would support here. There are no viable private schools, and not all public schools are equal.
I think even homeschooling here comes with a stipend.

I see “here” in your bio is Alaska which I don’t know a single goddamn thing about, so I’m gonna take your word on that

I don’t think charter schools in texas aren’t getting the vouchers.
Ultimately it makes zero sense for charter schools to get the money. They are already funded primarily by state tax dollars.

If it’s a good private school that has a healthy enrollment, the answer is no.
For the board liberals who are mentioning that we should help fix the public schools, that ship sailed 20 plus years ago. There is no fixing the general public schools. Charter and magnet schools help the situation somewhat as long as they have the standard and are able to enforce these.

The people who pay the money get the product. School vouchers are socialism. Period.
I don't know about that. If I get to choose a school based on academics or religious affiliation instead of being forced into a politburo designated school via your school district, that sounds a lot like free market capitalism.
The tax dollars you're getting are ultimately yours (the tax payer). If you get to personally choose something that fits your family instead of being forced into the school district designated nonsense that's taught these days, that's a win. Public schools have fallen so far that they're graduating illiterate students so the admins can look good.
You're going to have a hard time convincing me that being forced into a school like that isn't actual socialism.

You’re not being forced to go to public school though. You are free to pay to have your kids go elsewhere

Fify.
Why should I have to pay taxes to support my school district, and then have to pay again to send my kid to the school I want him to go to?
ETA: The socialism here is keeping failing schools afloat under the guise that they're the only game in town. Add a little competition for taxpayer dollars and you'll see radical change overnight.

You already have free markets via where you decide to purchase your home and the corresponding zoned school districts. Don’t like the schools? Then move.
Vouchers get in the way of this

What kind of change? If many schools still have shitty parents/kids, what’s going to change?
I’m pro voucher, just curious as to your thoughts.
