I doubt our youngest goes to LSU. She'll be the first in 4 generations on my dad's side not to go. I'd like to see her get out of BR for college.

LSU used to give in-state tuition to out of state students whose parents were LSU grads but stopped some time ago. There’s no advantage for a north Texas parent to send their kid to LSU over all the other better options. Arkansas and Alabama are very generous with scholarships and I’d rather my kids go to either one over LSU, even though I have 2 degrees from LSU.

One kid is in UT and we’ll see where the siblings go. TCU or SMU would be great because they’d make local connections. Even UNT for undergrad would be preferable. Arkansas and Baylor would be another good couple of options.

Daughter finishing Ole Miss Sophomore year…. Was between LSU and Ole Miss… got more money from LSU scholarship- wise and have friends that I work with close by if ever I needed them to assist BUT the LSU campus app warning me several times late at night of Barbarians at the gates makes me sleep better we (I) made the right decision

Took one to Pepperdine a couple years ago, going to Boston this summer.

She spends summers here with me but if she has an invite to a school for recruitment, I take her.

This one will be a JR in August. We haven't started visiting schools yet but will start next year.

If she just gets TOPS she'll likely go somewhere in state.

She's a good student, 3.5-3.6 GPA but I doubt that's academic scholarship good these days.

One thing LSU can do immediately, start allocating funds to buy up all the property it can around the campus. Tigerland, dumpy apartments, trap houses. EVERYTHING. Tear them all down tomorrow.

I like how this gets said all the time on this board like it is feasible in the slightest sense. This isn't going to happen ever

My GD has a 4.0+. Her brother has a 3.5 (Which is awesome for him, classic ADD kid) and he wants to learn a trade. I support that.

She is a Freshman but has been gathering a lot of interest. Being half latino helps her cause, a lot.

Auburn Football players are in trouble right now because they filmed a gang bang of a questionably conscious girl - guess Auburn is out also

I could keep going down the list

no fricking shite. They have a quarter of the people and totally different demographics

The university students and employees in these places are the town

there are plenty of abandoned properties and unlivable units for this to happen. You act like there are sweet little minority neighborhoods with gardens out front. I've driven through areas around campus that are almost entirely boarded up and occupied by squatters. So yes. That is my plan

Why not? So many condemnable buildings around that campus. Business won't be the first to put toe in water. If city were to condemn the unlivable, property turns over to city, put it on the market to University.

Think of Detroit. You can buy houses for $1 as long as you improve the property. All unsold properties get razed. It is possible.

Well keep going. Because if you think for one millisecond that any school in the conference is even remotely close to the crime that BR has - and that’s just now. In a decade this place is going to be a complete war zone and I think you know it. Unless you’re just trying to be dense or ironic.

Baton Rouge is doomed unless there’s something somebody can do soon. And they can, especially if someone could lean on them a little bit.

Imagine what California will look like in 20 years.

The future is great for younger folks who want to put in effort. The competition will not be that great in the near future. Merit is a superpower.

Don’t get me wrong, I love me some LSU, with two degrees. Realistically, there are better options out there, especially in STEM.

BR has always had the most crime in the SEC because its an actual city that doesn't revolve around the school

Colubmia and Nashville are really the only other cities and Nashville has better demographics

Columbia's crime stats are better than BR's but very similar

Austin has better demographics but is going downhill - downtown is blocks from campus with a ton of homeless people and lots of crime. I've listened to 2 true crime podcast about UT students being murdered . I guess people shouldn't send their kids to UT anymore

Only a handful of SEC markets have under 100k population now. Lexington and Knoxville are pretty similar sized markets as well.
