UT Austin vs UNC or UVA would be a better comparison/question

What a weird thread.

Everyone choosing Tennessee doesn't even mention Knoxville being shitty while talking about doing stuff outside the city, while making sure the critique of UT is based only on the area within four miles of campus.

For the degree and alumni base - Texas

For the college experience, town, weather - Tennessee

I recently spent a few days in Knoxville, not having been there once the mid 90’s. I was really imported how nice Knoxville had become over those years. It was great. I especially enjoyed all the rooftop bars in the downtown area. They were great.

Austin is a world class city with great food, music and arts and a beautiful surrounding area of the Texas Hill Country. As far as liberal hippies, they are there but unless you go to the places they hang, you don't really see them. Plus rents are so expensive in Austin they are being forced to move further out, its mostly rich liberals that dress normal that live in austin now.

Id like to know what Austin has that any other big city doesnt have? Ive been there and had fun but the obsession with it is weird.

I lived there for seven years. I loved it. One and a half hours from Asheville and the rest of western North Carolina if you need your Bohemian craft beer fix.

But your example isn't even Knoxville, it's Asheville!

Is this a real question? Texas is more prestigious academically and is better resourced. Alumni network is wider and deeper as well.

Austin WAS a fun town. Now it’s an overcrowded metropolis with lagging infrastructure, gridlocked roads, unaffordable housing, aggressive bums, and angry leftists in control.

Not to mention 6th Street has turned into a gangster’s paradise.

Tennessee. I can’t stand either one as a football team but I would much rather live around mountains than the liberal shite town of Austin
