How far away is option A from the nearest major airport?

35 minutes from England air field in Alexandria and about 45 minutes from Lafayette.

Rich in a small, crappy town. My dollar goes farther, and I have the means to travel where I want and put the kids in private school if necessary.

Same amount of salary money, then Charlotte, NC/Katy, TX/Frisco, Tx, etc over Tallulah, LA. Cost of living isn’t that much higher, compared to Manhattan or San Fransico. Easy access to international airports and availability of public schools better than the local Mississippi private school.

So, you mean just having a good job and living in New Iberia, or having a good job and living right outside of Baton Rouge?
New Iberia fits option A, but he did say nice town for option B.

Yeah that's my point. He said both scenarios make the same. The income to live that type of suburban life is probably $150-200k. So both scenarios make that much. Meaning in order for that income to be considered rich, you'd need to be in an extremely cheap, low income area.

Or just not worry about my wealth or lack thereof relative to others, regardless of locale?

Hour and ten minutes to BTR which is the main one you can catch direct flights from.
