I don't think it's always a racist thing.
Our culture has really driven him the perceived virility of the black male - hell, every other thread here has grown men fixated on the so-called "BBC" - so in some cases, it could be a true fear/insecurity that they won't be able to measure up to a former partner.
I think we've all had that thought cross our minds from time to time, especially in our younger days. Not everybody starts out confident and secure, and sadly, some of us never get there.
For some people, I admit, it's racism and it's shameful; but I think you can be paranoid and insecure without it necessarily being hate.
Just my two cents.

Swift by a mile. She could be more Upton like if she gained weight, got some new cans, etc. As she gets older she probably drift that way anyway with added weight. Upton is never going to be Taylor skinny.
