No

My father recently lost his foot and it has been a horrible experience for both he and my mother. He nearly died several times from an infection. He's very fortunate to still be with us.

Their lives will be forever changed and they have had to abandon many of their plans for their senior years.

It sucks and is heartbreaking.

Like I said, I'm shocked at the amount of people who said "no".

Losing a limb would make life much worse. Cool you have $10 million but you have to hobble around all day until you die

Then you wouldn't be able to tell OT 10's at the bar, that you lost your foot saving a kid from a shark.

I would have to research how advanced prosthetics are now and where they are expected to be in 5-10 years before deciding but I would lean towards yes based on the little I know of them right now

Damn right I would. Then I'd buy a prosthesis and get over it.

I'm sorry for your families hardship. But this scenario is completely different.

for the average person, $10 mil will completely change the course of not only their lives, but future generations as well

you now get to move into a better neighborhood, better schools, better networking, your kids get into a private college, they get out and get that better career due to the new networking with rich people, and so on

and all the while if you spend wisely, that $10 mil is more than likely gaining compound interest and is making money for future generations to improve their lot on life

Prosthetics have come a long way. How much does a new foot cost that is essentially the same as a real foot? Tack the cost of that new foot that onto the $10M and I would probably say yes.

Considering my hobbies and what I would spend my money on would mostly involve me physically doing stuff, I would not do it. I need my foot.

Out of curiosity, what exactly can you not do with a prosthetic foot?

your leg is a limb. Your foot is not.

FFS this isn't the 1800s. Having a foot surgically removed by professionals and getting a state of the art prosthetic isn't going to make you hobble around like some fricking geriatric. When clothed a stranger would literally not be able to tell what's happened unless you told them.
