They were still issuing WWII era C rations late as the early 70's and the ones made up to the mid 50's until the MRE's came out in the 80's. They were designed to lock you up not give diarrhea.

In one of this videos, he ate some of a British Army ration from the Boer War. The ration was packaged in the year 1899 or 1900.

He's great.

Wrong, 1,250 calories.

Makes sense to do this. Say you get shot or something and trying to flee, it’d be nice to shoot up real quick to mask the pain

I watched another one this morning where he was smoking a 70 yr old cigarette he got out of one. It’s definitely a weird but fascinating hobby.

One of his videos where he eats some old ration, he says "my tongue is going numb. Probably shouldn't take another bite since I don't have health insurance. Oh well, I can't help myself."

Apparently the is an MRE/ old rations convention where these guys get together and trade old rations. He mentions it at the end of one of his videos. The funny part is he looks exactly how you’d expect a guy who enjoys eating 100 year old C rations to look.

1250 calories is for the FEMA MREs they give out after a hurricane. The full military MREs are 2500 - 3100 calories, with lots more stuff in them.

Each MRE provides an average of 1,250 calories (13% protein, 36% fat, and 51% carbohydrates) and 1/3 of the Military Recommended Daily Allowance of vitamins and minerals. A full day's worth of meals would consist of three MREs.

Seems like that'd be worth quite a bit of money?
