Would you drive this? The market's best affordable cabriolets, roadsters, & convertibles

Which one would you buy for a fun 3rd vehicle?
I think the Porsche 718 is the best looking, followed closely by the Corvette convertible. I can see how the Mercedes would be ideal if you need more space.
Mazda MX-5 and the Fiat Sypder might be the most fun, but also the smallest.
Mercedes C300 Cabriolet - $55,000
Audi TT Convertible - $49,500
Chevrolet Camaro V8 Convertible - $35,000
Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible - $67,800
[/url]
Porsche 718 Boxter - $68,900
BMW Z4 - $49,700
Mazda MX-5 Miata - $27,000
Fiat 124 Spyder (AKA Fiata) $27,000
Didn't include the Mustang because it sucks. The Camaro will fill the "American Muscle" category here anyways.
The BMW is surprisingly disappointing in the looks department. Really digging the 718 Porsche. Surprised that Mercedes is canceling (temporarily) the SL and SLK, leaving them only with the cabriolet C and E for their only topless cars for a year or two.

Best bang for the buck would probably be the Miata. That would be my second choice behind the Porsche.

No doubt, and likely easiest to find with a 6 speed manual. They look pretty cool now too.
The Corvette might be a better value than the Porsche given the incredible speed it offers, but I hear there are waiting lists still. I also just love the 718's styling.

I'm interested in these. How big of a turkey will it do?

Relatively equal performance in a better looking car with no ridiculous blind spots.
But to answer your question, I've always enjoyed every time I've driven any Miata and would love to have one as a weekend car

I have one of these. After driving a mechanical hard top I'd never buy a soft top.

I'd drive every one of those. Right now, I drive a 2008 Lexus SC. However, at 6'3+", 225 lbs. I doubt I could fit into the Miata. I looked at a Miata when they first came out and it was way too small for me. When the top was up, my head hit the roof. When the top was down, the top of the windshield blocked my view. It felt like I was in a sardine can. So, unless they’ve increased in size, the Miata would probably be out.

$70k, $80-$85k with Porsche options for a Boxster?
Hell Naw... Don't care how nimble and tossable it is.

Depending on the price, I'd only drive cars like the Ferrari, Audi, and maybe the high end Mercedes on a road course or closed track. These cars cost too much for some idiot in a hoopty, with minimum insurance, if they have insurance at all, to run into you on the streets.

Boxster Spyder is at the top of the list. Good spec’d ‘11s sell for close to MSRP. A Miata with a cage is a cool little car.
Mustang and Camaro convertibles look like rental cars.

If you fit in the SC, you fit in a Miata as long as your hips aren't huge.
Miata has 1/4" more head room and 1/2" less leg room. The big one that would decide if you fit is 3" less hip room.

The Volvo is definitely a nice car, but it’s a little boring for the OP’s crowd.
Also I think they canceled it 2-3 years back.

If you’re right, then they must’ve greatly increased in size since the mid 90s. I really wanted to buy a Miata back then but when I was taking the test drive, I knew there was no f*cking way. And, at the time I was about 200 lbs. which at 6'3" was fairly thin.

The Miata is a joy.
Of all the cars I've ever owned my Miata was my favorite. Lost in a divorce otherwise I would still be driving it.
Will buy another one within the next 2 years.

Camaro hard top does have some blind spots. But IMO it’s the best looking of the 3 American muscle cars, depending on the grill you get.
I don’t understand why the Camaro even has a back seat. No one can use that thing.

:yak: I like them from the side and the back, but the front just kills it for me.

I'd imagine at this point, tradition. Although the rears were pretty useless in the F bodies, so not really a new development there. Mustang back seats, especially back in that time, were way more usable.
