Not for traffic bs, but for crime.

My neighbor and i were talking and we both have security cameras now. But if the city had them on street light poles, that would be a huge crime deterrent, and have more faces in their crime matching database.

I would even pay more taxes i think they wouldbe so effective

Can't wait to see all the "I hate big government" folks come in and support this.

If you’re walking down a street downtown or in a busy area of town, you’re on camera pretty much the entire time.

Problem is, the thugs come out of the hood into nice neighborhoods and steal from the working class.

Yes. NOPD already essentially does this.

The UK does use the shite out of CCTV, but I don't think they have as much as they think. I honestly feel like they put more signs up to make ppl think about it. You'll see multiple signs on a rural road about CCTV, but look around and it's impossible to spot

The government can get hold of private camera footage (and they are everywhere, think the Houston Doctor murdered on his bike)... Why go to the expense of putting up their own?

No. If they can watch you for "crime" what's to stop them from redefining crime. Hey I left my garbage can out overnight......hey, I have some unpaid tickets for an expired tag...or I have an expired tag.....or I fell on hard times and had to let my auto insurance lapse and my car is parked on the street.

Too much potential for abuse
