Would you be offended if your kids teacher offered extra credit for......

bringing in a pack of loose leaf paper or box of Kleenex? Of course anything brought in goes to the class collection to be used throughout the school year.
I ask this because I have had some people tell it’s not fair since some students families can not afford it.

I’d say an anchoring for a cliff hanger title.

I wouldn’t mind. I can get paper and Kleenex from work.

Depends on the school. When I went to a private school, I remember a teacher or two doing that.
It would not have gone well at the public school I went to. Kids would have stolen paper from other classrooms or something stupid like that.

Why would this offend you?
I wouldn’t want anyone in my life who is offended by donating Kleenex and paper to a classroom.
There are zero families that cannot afford Kleenex or paper. They may not want to spend money on their children but everyone has $5.

If she didn't specify that the Kleenex had to be unused, then it's not discrimination.

Lol, it wouldn’t let me type the whole question in the topic. I’m sorry

It's a good lesson for the kids: Life ain't fair, so

I understand why some would think it unfairly excludes children from needy families, but I agree with the spirit of the gesture. There could be a non-contribution based way to earn the same extra credit.

No. If a kid is smart and works hard, the extra credit means nothing anyway. It's just an incentive to get supplies. I guess these parents would rather be forced to pay for it rather than be "offended"?

Every family can afford a pack of loose leaf paper.

Good. Some shaming is a good motivator. However, if you want to see how wasteful our school systems are in this country, this is a prime example.

But it doesn’t. The items listed are among the cheapest commodities out there

No, I think that's very reasonable.

We don't have those problems at private schools

That's why it goes into the class collection bc not everyone can afford it and the kids that do bring it in SHOULD get extra credit for it.
