No, but I would offer an award if someone returned my dog ($100).

Hundred bucks from some poor family or kid? shite no.

Why does income matter,

I think this is perfectly fair way to approach it. If its someone's family dog I'm not going to take a big chunk of their monthly nut, unless they have money to spare. Especially if they have money to spare and its one of those idiotic designer dogs.

But I'm a dog guy, I have one rescue and one AKC papered purebred retriever. I'm not looking to have a windfall off someone's misfortune.

This is another example of what's wrong with society and people in general, deciding what others should spare. Kinda marxist.

Not unless there was some serious BS involved. Found one years back that had a $500 reward and I asked the folks to donate it to the shelter.

Except there are these things called "statistics" available to us that show if a family is struggling to get by or if they have money to spare. The average household income is $83,000. The average yearly mortgage payment is about a third of that, taxes get another third, etc.... you can see that that average family can't afford $1000+ reward for their dog.

But if a guy drives up in a car that costs double the average yearly household income or lives in a huge house, he probably has money to spare and if he offers me $1000 for finding his dog, I might take it.

Not kinda marxist, just based in facts.

Not cash.

Maybe a small piece of LSU swag or something like that.

When I was about 12, my buddy and I found a beautiful St. Bernard that was maybe a year old, not too big yet. He had tags with an address that was about 3 miles away. We put a leach on him and started walking. It took us a while to get there, but the people were so excited to see him. This was a house in a very wealthy area of Metairie.

They didn't offer us a reward, a ride home, a glass of water, nothing. When I told my mom where we had been all afternoon, she said we'd get our reward in heaven.

Absolutely not. You aren’t going to get nearly as much as if you ransom the dog.

Ransom off the dog and score big.
