Would this tactic work to rid myself of endless spam calls?

1. Get a new mobile number. Only give it to friends, family, and work contacts.

2. Port my existing number to Google Voice. Turn off notifications. Use this “old number” for anything that requires my phone number (online accounts, rewards programs, etc)

3. Profit???

4. Get Laid

I bought a Verizon phone for a Hotspot for awhile. Never called, texted, or linked it with any account. It stayed on the window sill in my home office plugged in.

It rang nonstop with spam calls. Just as bad as my personal use phone.

Nope. Your phone company is selling you out as much if not more than everyone else.

I use to do this out of boredom. Listen to their pitch and ask it you could get it by ( pick any date) tell them your interested put it has to be done by whatever date you told them.after a while they will ask why before the date you gave them. Then you say I’m filling bankruptcy on that date and you want to make sure you get their product on the filing. They will never bother you again

I wouldn’t give anything to Google. The amount of spying they do on consumers should be illegal.

Offer to buy their product if they promise not to call back.

Just never, ever answer a number you don't know. That's been my rule for a while now with the newest number I have. I rarely get spam calls now, maybe one a month. Once they know the number is good and someone will answer, they will flood it.

I have voicemail and text for a reason. If I don't answer and it is an important call they can leave a message.

I had a spam call saying I won 5 million dollars. They said I had to pay 5000 tax on it. Told them to just take the tax out of my 5 million. They said they couldn't do that. I told them never mind because iam rich any way (which I am not). Then "john" from India ask me if I could send him money to pay for his college.

After getting 20 spam calls a day, got rid of my land line. Went to all cell phones. I know I was late to the party. Pay extra 5 bucks for spam block and haven't got any more spam calls. Knock on wood.

The T-Mobile “Shield” app has been great for me, blocks the vast majority of spam calls

Just don't answer. If I don't know a number, if its someone that needs something they will leave a VM.

No... there are only 10,000 numbers for every prefix. With an automated dialing system at their disposal they're gonna call all 10k of them for every prefix. It's inevitable.

No.

Your info is always compromised. Just deal with it and don’t answer numbers you don’t know

Get the "Calls Blacklist" app and use the setting the blocks all numbers not in your contacts. Legit callers from unrecognized numbers can leave a voicemail or text you.

I have a very simple solution. My iPhone 13 has a feature that blocks 100% of calls that are not on my Contact List or to which I have not placed a call. Any blocked call can leave a voice mail message.
