Would fusion power plants be good for the world?

In theory, there would be limitless free energy to help Africa, etc. In reality, the USA and China would likely scale this up enormously to produce super-weapons and constantly target the energy facilities of the rest of the world. Mankind May actually be worse off.

lol eliminating scarcity of any good, but particularly power generation, is the best thing that could happen to mankind if we want to get off this planet

The problem with Africa is that they are over carrying capacity for what THEY can produce.
They need to be able to succeed on their own. “Helping” them just makes the problem worse in the long run because when you pull the rug out from underneath them they are worse off than they were before.

Not using a technology because it's dangerous is faulty thinking. Fusion power would change our entire world for the better. Did cavemen think "we can't use this fire because it can destroy things?"
Almost all technology is dangerous if used in the wrong way. You can build great things with a hammer but you can also bash someone's head in.

We are currently enjoying one of the most peaceful eras in human history. Why do you think two superpowers would deploy energy weapons when no war exists?
That's like banning vaccines because .0001% of humans might have an adverse reaction.

Zero point is already used by the military. it is a better option than fusion but lets just keep on improving. Doesn't matter how slowly they disclose it all. Just disclose it.

I'm not going to disagree with anything you said but IMO
are the Presidents of every country; they spend a few years in office stealing everything they can get their hands on, then leave....rinse, repeat.

It's kind of funny when you consider we drive machines at high speeds with 15 gallons of flammable liquid inside of it.
Ok an individual basis, there's probably nothing more dangerous we do than driving because we put our lives in the hands of others' decision making.

Many things we do everyday our lives are in other peoples hands. Driving, eating food at a restaurant, drinking water from a tap, getting on a plane, people carry firearms in our vicinity, police officers are given the authority to investigate people, even the dudes watching over the nuclear bombs, etc.

Not worried about the dangers of a fusion power plant at all.
It will be so high-tech, I wonder what will happen if only a very few countries control all the energy resource and can use limitless energy for production- civilian and military.

It’s true. Fusion weapons have been in active deployment for over 50 years. What we are trying to figure out is how to efficiently contain the conditions fusion requires.

Let's think big picture. The longest advanced civilization in human history was the Romans. You can argue they were at their best for 300-500 years. It wouldn't be a good idea to activate nuke plants throughout the planet and have no one to monitor them. Half life of that waste is like 150k years. Meltdowns would rekt the planet.
