If government is involved, you can go ahead and lower your expectations.

you can take alternate routes(65, 165, 90, then back on 10 near Spanish Fort) but it takes you way out of the way.

The first time in 30 years that I didn’t do this was the first trip I ever made in that direction this past April.

This is easy. Its the east bound BR bridge.

Mobile has a second tunnel a few hundred feet away. It also has alternate interstate bridge route that while longer, gets you 10 miles further east over the entire bay. Baton Rouge as an alternate bridge that is non-interstate and puts you right back into traffic at the base of the bridge.

And westbound exits.. Plus people can't F ING drive... We have F'd this all up. There are other bridges south of BR... There is no west bank corridor to move through traffic across without hitting BR. Build a serious road from WBR to Destrehan. Access all of the bridges to I-10...Sunshine, Vets, Boggs to 310.

The gauntlet is the stretch of Hell that consists of the BR bridge, the Atchafalaya bridge, and the Lake Charles bridge. I swear Cajuns are half vampire as much trouble as they have crossing running water without running into each other.

The tunnel is only a clusterfrick on summer weekends because of TX and LA bourgeoisie heading to their dream vacation in gulf shores

Aren't there plans for a new I-10 Mobile Bay bridge to bypass the tunnel?

Not at the right time of day.

Timing is everything.

Why try to travel through it during it’s peak periods? Duh.

I’d rather sit in traffic than be shot on I 10 in New Orleans.

That and the fact it was built almost 60 years ago and there were probably 2/3 less cars on the road back then.

It's just an antiquated design that should've been taken care of in the 80's...

Because there's a major S curve in the road and the speed limit slows down to 50MPH..

I've talked to the movers and shakers at the supper club about this. They've assured me the new bridge should fix the problem in White Castle

both are terrible. the blame on the tunnel goes to drivers that slow to a crawl for whatever reason but the the bridge in BR is a design issue. the way the traffic is funneled to one lane headed east bound to merge with the 110 traffic is the dumbest thing i have ever encountered.
next time i’m headed to gulf shores or orange beach i’m exiting Dolphin island parkway and taking the ferry out of fort morgan. at least then it becomes more of an experience rather then a cluster fu(k

I’ve never been shot on I 10 in New Orleans. I don’t personally know anyone who has either. But everyone I know has sat in traffic.
