Don't the Brits have some good snipers?

I remember back in the first season if TopShot, the British former special forces guy smoked everyone else in almost every competition.

Man, TopShot was a solid show. I wish it'd come back. They kind of ran out of obstacles though so it became a little ridiculous towards the end.

Not that the other services don't take this competition or marksmanship seriously (I mean, seriously, every Gyrene takes every miss as a personal affront) - but the USA marksmanship team has always drawn this mix of geek/shooter. Their .22lr shooting standards are to hit a period ( . ) of newsprint at 100 meters.

That's fricking crazy.

Probably still my favorite "reality show" outside of Cops (which is about the only real "reality" show).

Iain was a recce platoon leader, not SAS or anything high end like that. He won the competition, but this isn't really true. You had a bunch of specialists on the show - I'm not sure they even had a 3-gun competitor - and a few military/LE guys mixed in. Iain's strength was that he was pretty good/excellent with everything - no weak spots to be exploited. I knew he would probably win when he won that pistol shoot out with the swinging targets. I had already seen enough to know he had no weak spots to be exploited.

If it bothers you that damn much then how about instead of whining and bitching about it you simply go find another thread to read.

The AMU recruits competition shooters into the Army for the sole purpose of being on the team. The USMC quit taking the marksmanship team seriously a long time ago for some reason. They used to dominate the sport.

Well Darth, by all accounts my original post could be interpreted as pretty un-intrusive, not very harsh advice. I just weighed in, no name calling or harsh criticism.

But then you, defensive and I guess backed in a corner, immediately started talking about sucking dicks.

So I can't, in hindsight, disagree that I should have passed on this thread. You're right there.
