How many hours would this guy be working? I know tons of people who work full-time for one health system and then consult with another after hours. I would do it, but I enjoy my free time too much.
Either way, I don't see it as a good idea because his companies are competitors.

This was a post on Reddit.

So if you're an insurance guy that works from home do you just answer the phone and sell an insurance policy?
I am the wrong guy to ask but I suspect the OP was talking about a guy who does some other type of support, maybe claims review, precertification, or some other technical assistance.

However, the companies are competitors and would never allow this.

Not a lawyer, but..
Almost certainly would be a violation of one or both employment agreements. The more access your “friend” has to company IP, the more the possibilities shift from unethical to potentially criminal.
Not worth it. As someone else said, why not consult if there’s such a demand?

Do it, but buy another computer and do each companies work on a separate computer. That way it never gets crossed.

Didn't check to see if this has been posted yet or not. But if your buddy is contracting with different companies then it is super easy to hop on the states Department of Insurance website and see this.
