Ah I’m in New Orleans.

Yeah, that's a bit further than I want to drive daily. My last job took me into New Orleans weekly. It's an hour and a half into the CBD from my driveway.
But thank you.

We get unsolicited resumes pretty often from people wildly unsuited for the field in general, much less anything we might have available. I figure it's people just checking the box for their unemployment claims.
I do submit for jobs I'm unqualified for, if the company sounds interesting to me.
All I'm really hoping for is a rejection notice so that I can ask a little more about their business. Maybe they have something I am well suited for.

Have you ever been unemployed?
Got laid off last Friday, and been seriously looking since the start of COVID. I have a spreadsheet with each job I apply to, the method (LinkedIn, company website, etc), the date and any company contacts I have or the recruiter I’m working with for that particular position.
It’s not particularly difficult to keep track of these things and helps to keep it all organized.

Ok, we don't need to pretend that everyone on unemployment is doing that.

There are alot of people who were thrown out of well-paying jobs because the government shut down the economy (and in the case of La. still is.)
Our first complaint lies with said government. It is a shame they get to decree the remedy for taxpayers that they have harmed should come from other taxpayers. Thereby making us antagonists to each other.
Jeez, I just read over this and realize I've read too many TulaneLSU posts. Starting to channel his verbiage. No offense meant to TLSU per se.

What other services do you use besides LinkedIn?

There are now hiring signs fricking everywhere

Cool.
I already have one low paying part time job. When I need another low pay part time job I'll go look at one of those signs.

What do you consider low paying?
Posted on 8/6/20 at 4:14 pm to Cosmo
I mean, this is a part time job I've had for 3 years. It only pays $15/hr, which was fine when it was just a side job I was using to put a little extra in savings.
Even if I wanted to work full time doing it, we don't have enough business.

My wife's kid has a part time grocery store job. One of his coworkers is a rig hand working there during the slowdown. He just got called back to his regular job.

"Who you spoke with"? A lot of available jobs are through the internet & most do give out names,it is basically a blind ad; many do not even give addresses initially.
Posted on 8/6/20 at 6:03 pm to Keltic Tiger
I think you have an option to put in a name, but it's not required.

Why is their so much hate for people who pay a ton in taxes and are still shut down by the governor getting an abysmal $222 a week unemployment? Not
I started my business from nothing, it is somewhat specialized local work and while in theory we are open, well, the calendar is completely empty and I have no work for my old employees (and may never again). I still log in to our website to delete all the spam emails so I can feel useful while I check to see that nothing is coming.
None if this is a fault of any of ours and we deserve to be able to feed our kids and pay our mortgages since it came out of nowhere with no time to prepare. My American dream can be lost fairly and I'd hardly complain, my family has a few hundred years of serious ups and downs, but we were forced into this situation by the government.
When people complain about moochers and the unemployed, I wonder what their vision of America is, mine is we take care of one another when things get tough.
