42 tries today, and still feel like it was a lucky guess because my next highest guess was 876. Checking the nearest words list now and there's almost no chance I would have guessed any of the top 100.

What was Saturday's word? I had "fortunate" which had a score of 993 but couldn't get any closer than that and quit after a while

I tried this game a couple of days ago and kept getting almost answers but never figured it out. Today I saw the thread pop back up and tried to play today’s puzzle and the first word that popped into my head was the correct word

Got it in 15 today, but the scoring algorithm cost me a few guesses again. I don't see how the word at 986 is not the nearest word, in any context.

My 29th guess was the 999/1000 word, and I've probably guessed 20 words after that, to no avail. Argh!
