I got a few nice pieces of Crepe Myrtle from trees damaged in the hurricane. I wasn't sure how it would burn, but it burns nicely.

A fire needs to burn down to coals like that for best cooking. But every time someone camps on TV they cook over a roaring fire with 3 foot flames.

My mother and I had many conversations about this. I would say leave it alone she has to poke at it. We were outside camping so no “wining “ the talk. Pure enjoyment. Miss those days. It’s been 31 years. Time passed slowly staring at a fire.

I like to stir up the coals and take pictures using long exposure.
