re: Wonder how many German SS soldiers refused to kill during Holocaust.

There are videos all over YouTube, interviews with former SS thugs, & almost to a man all denied that THEY were involved in any murdering of Jews. A few mentioned their " sacred oath " to Hitler to the extent they were "honor bound" to follow any & all orders from him. As to the Wehrmacht, they were far from being regular grunts as an army fighting force. The Wehrmacht Sixth Army was responsible for the massacre of 30,000 Jews at Babbi Yar as one example. Their fate at Stalingrad was pure karma. Not as bad as the SS as a group, yes, but they were far from being angels in the full course of the war. Rudolf Hoess, commandant of Auschwitz, in his post war diary, while waiting execution plainly stated that Himmler was aware of & concerned with the effects of mass murder on his troops of both groups. And subsequently proved those troops with all the booze they could drink "after work".

How did they come to the conclusion that Stalin was the lesser evil? I believe he probably killed more Jews and undesirables than the nazis

There's a small city in Argentina where many Nazi war criminals fled to post war. It's basically a German-village-in-Argentina now. There was, as late as 10 yrs ago, annual get togethers where former SS thugs had old style Nazi rally-type parties / reunions. Along with all the WWII Nazi song fests, speeches after speeches ranting against the Jews all over again. In one of the YouTube videos covering interviews with former SS thugs, an old fart loses it, spittle dribbling out of his mustached-mouth, screaming about how tired he was hearing about Auschwitz, ranting it was all lies, as in where were all the bodies. He got so worked up he was basically inaudible at the end. Himmler's wife & later daughter both ranted that the Holocaust was all a Jewish-backed fake.

Oh there was nothing indiscriminate about the SS shooting prisoners. They had specialized SS units called “Einsatzgruppen” set up for the task. It was all very organized.

No matter how battle hardened soldiers are they’re still human. I bet a lot more than we know lost the heartlessness and brutality

well......the evidence exists that people were slaughtered, but the number is up for debate, IMO
