Won a jackpot

I won a slot jackpot that gives me a significant amount of money to spend at a powersport dealership. I don't want/need anything they have. What's the best way to cash this in? Dealer said they'd buy back at $.50 on the dollar.

Buy something right at the limit and immediately resale it?

Look at the tax implications either way. But if I was you, I would find out if the jackpot is transferable and then sell it to someone who wants something for .70 on the dollar cash. No taxes that way either.

That's the obvious solution, but that puts the ball in my court on what to buy. This place has all the usual stuff. Motorcycles, UTV, ATV, Jet ski, etc. What do you think is the most popular item with the largest potential to sell quickly?

Get a jet ski.
They are a blast and fairly easy to maintain.

I'm pretty sure it's not transferable. The dealership has to provide a purchase order to the the casino to get paid, and it has to be in my name. I wanted to for go the purchase, get the dealership to cut me a check for less, and they get the full amount. They wouldn't go for that. Said the documentation they have to supply to the casino has to include a specific item(s) with serial numbers, etc.

I've had two. Sold both. The last one was a high-end, supercharged Yamaha. Got bored with it and never rode it. I don't have a need for a UTV, ATV, I don't want/need to ride a bike. If only they sold tractors!

Buy a ATV. Get insurance on it and have it stolen off the trailer attached to your truck. Then get insurance pay off and sell the not really stolen ATV to someone in Bumfrick Alaska. Profit, profit.

Buy something and sell it. I wouldnt take .50 on the dollar. Then again it may not be worth the hassle to you
Eta: just saw 15k. What brands does the dealer sell?

Be aware you are going to get a tax form 1099-G on the $15k. It is a significant tax rate and you should factor that into things.

Exactly why I'm balking at the 50 cents on the dollar offer!
