The key word here is "hierarchy". Know your place, and you are good.
One man can handle only so many women at a time. Fewer and fewer as you get older.
But the issue is the choice being made by the female. Way back when in the prehistoric days, they had no choice. They had no choice up until about 200 years ago.
They were chosen, not the chooser.

Of course the act of sex doesn’t suck for the guy. But, at least to me, a lot of the fun is knowing that I’m able to give pleasure to my SO. I think it would be a pretty big confidence shot to know going into it that you couldn’t do it for her if the batteries ran out or something

This is where modern notions of "honor", "saving face" and "fairness" come from. If nothing else, a leader would have had to have some reputation of this to lead among peers, at least, as well as a demonstrated record of successful leadership.
Otherwise, he would get fragged or otherwise "dealt with" by the next tier down.

That’s just factually incorrect for the 99.9 % of people who weren’t nobility. The men didn’t “ take” , they courted. The Greeks and Romans wrote endlessly of this.
In fact the vast majority of men had to compete non stop to access sex. The data ( Google it ) shows that 30-40% of men in world history never reproduced.That number would be about 15% or less for women. And “ excess “ men were exiled or sent off to war . They were excess fodder for war. Women were FAR from these hapless victims these simplistic threads portray them as. They have ALWAYS been the sexual selection gatekeepers and men have always been the relationship gatekeepers. Obviously, excluding the 1% of nobility, kings, queens, conquerors etc.

Actually no. What I'm arguing is men take pride in how many women they've had sex with. And some call women who have sex with many men sluts and dirty and not deserving of them, whatever. In fact you see the term whore or slut thrown around all the time on OT posts. It is a double standard. Now women may look for a man whom they can fall in love with, marry, have a family blada, blada, blada. But some women now may just want sex partners in the same way men do until they settle down if they ever do. And I think it has evolved as this specifically and the overt nature of it (the video) in the internet era.
Yeah, I believe there is some biological hardwiring of this also.
Finally, I can't vouch for how the modern female feels about this. Perhaps they can chime in.

I'm okay. I actually enjoy the wide ranging discussion here. I've become a bit of a tolerant person with regard to women's proclivities. I won't call them names or judge them.
But I would be appalled if my wife was or daughters are sluts. No sluts in my family.
