I used to work with a guy who was dating a local tv “celebrity” in Sao Paolo, she was married and her husband had a paramour and they kind of did their own thing socially, weird thing was each of the spouses would attend the same social events with their side pieces, too much potential drama for me, I met the lady a few times, she’s a doll

Hierarchical organization and similar behavior including females seeking out the mate for reproduction that would better ensure offspring survival and offspring’s status within their group and seeing males as protector is still going on in animals. It’s part of why when comparing chimps to bonobos the chimps hunted, ate plants and meat, spread out more, and grew more in numbers while the bonobos sat around in one place eating fruit, wacking & screwing each other regardless of sex or age, being more timid in general, and end having the women dominate their society instead of the males.
