I said that because I agree with you. I, too, think this story is sad as shite. Every bad thing I'm ever tempted to do or say can be totally dissolved with the sheer thought of "but what would this do to my children?"... my children make me a better human. I love them more than anything in this life. So, that's why I get irritated that she represents all women. She doesn't represent me. Crawling to the ends of the earth would be easy if it was what my kids needed. Seeing a stupid woman act like this makes my blood boil, and all it's doing is hurting that baby boy. And that's what pisses me off.

Let me guess ... then she wouldn’t have needed Owlie?

My coworker is going through a similar divorce. The ex is the definition of evil psycho B. It's as if she wakes up every morning with the goal of wrecking shop for her children and ex husband. It's honestly the most deplorable thing I've ever seen. I used to read about those types of divorces and think they were exaggerated or pure fiction.
But what is sad is it truly only messes the kids up in the long run.

Sometimes one parent or the other hates the ex more than they love their child. I can't stomach seeing it and I see it all over the place.

That is so sad. I can't imagine feeling anything stronger than the love I have for my kids.

And he will likely get screwed over by a female Family Court judge on her second or third husband who thinks the patriarchy is the biggest threat in America.

I used to see/hear some heart breaking shite at chrysler, especially hearing the horror stories.
If not for the kids, i know several of these guys would of shot their wives. They would needle the frick out of them to the point of no return.
They took a lives worth of punishment just to see their kids and be part of their lives.

Trying to look at the situation in an objective way.
His divorce decree says he must return the child by 6 PM on Sunday night. perhaps she wanted to take the child to a night church service. Perhaps the child needs to get ready for bed for the child needs to get up early.
The dad or Andrew knew he needed to get him back by 6 and knew by eating at a restaurant like that one he wasn't going to make it. Perhaps he has been late many times on his 6 o'clock deadline.

Let's say the dad returned his son an hour or two late. He can get in trouble with the cops??

All very possible. I don't know the history. I only know the look of defeat I saw in his eyes this one time. He could have been the worst father ever. But for the few minutes I saw him, he seemed like a guy who loved his son and just couldn't catch a break.
It saddened and angered me.

You take the kid to supper and they're busier than usual on a Sunday or the service is slow. You're 10 to 15 minutes late. No judge, even the most vile, pro-woman feminist, is going to hold the father in contempt for violating the agreement. If I were licensed in OP's state and the wife filed a Rule to Show Cause for that, I'd take his case for free just to see her laughed out of court.
