Driver and float won’t be at fault. Unless he drove into the crowd, NYX doesn’t have liability in this. That’s my guess. Although last time this happened was 1981, less lawsuits then.

Morris Bart was probably at the parade.

I wonder if it’s possible to divert some of them back down Tchoup to Napoleon.

I wouldn’t rule out the driver not being at fault
Hopefully he passes the breathalyzer

First question that will be asked is the the crew doesn’t have float walkers to ensure that this doesn’t happen. It’s not like this situation isn’t foreseeable.
Not saying a lawsuit would be successful but there are some issues on the surface.

They can't go through the scene to get TO Napoleon Avenue. They are stuck on Magazine between Valence and Jefferson and likely some still on Jefferson.

Wonder if they are letting other people off the floats. As in not the float that killed someone. Would suck if they tried to make them stay on the float

I’ve also seen something similar when the driver takes the turn wrong. It’s pretty scary to see it happen and all you can do is yell at people to move back and get away from the railing. I’m not sure what you can do if the axle breaks though. That’s just unfortunate.
Just catching up with the thread. Apparently that’s not what happened here.

Unless they can get back to Jefferson, I can’t think of a single street wide enough for them to turn off the route and get to tchoup.
Some of those floats maybe sitting for awhile.

Hence why I said back down Tchoup. Floats are gonna have to go back down Magazine backwards to be removed. I doubt they’re opening that area up soon.

Foreseeable to any potential victims as well, for fricks sake.

Some kid got squished at Endymion Extravaganza a few years ago. My NOPD friend said a cop had time to yell, “Hey! Don’t... man down.”

Thank goodness
The amount of people triggered in this thread would explode if they found out ladders were left in the neutral ground overnight.
Sounds like a totally grewsome scene

I dont know how well these things handle in reverse, at all. Magazine isn't very wide, neither is Jefferson Avenue.
Perhaps floats still on Jefferson could go straight lakebound, depends upon the trees as well.

No they didn’t... no one has been killed by a float since 1981
