A 24-year-old woman was forced into a vehicle and sexually assaulted early Wednesday morning (May 27) on Canal Street near St. Charles Avenue, one of two aggravated rapes reported by New Orleans police in 15 hours.
I'm sure the apologists will be here to say these things happen in all big cities, but the reality is the city is falling into a state of anarchy. If we were a foreign city the State Department would have issued a travel warning already.

From the current State Department Warning for Mexico. The Justice Department should be doing the same thing for U.S. Cities. that have become ungovernable.
quote:
Crime and violence are serious problems and can occur anywhere, and U.S. citizens have fallen victim to criminal activity, including homicide, gun battles, kidnapping, carjacking, and highway robbery. While many of those killed in organized crime-related violence have themselves been involved in criminal activity, innocent persons have also been killed. The number of U.S. citizens reported to the Department of State as murdered in Mexico was 81 in 2013 and 100 in 2014

I'm sorry but New Orleans is not a big city

Something really needs to be done about NOLA.
A travel advisory may get the residents to quit denying it so vehemently.

Canal Street is a tragedy. It will never change anytime soon unfortunately

It's a small city, but has big crime/problems.
Very difficult situation.

This is what happens when you ban smoking indoors.
