And bison are much faster than you think they would be.

They can run up to 35 miles per hour and are pretty agile.

I’ve had the opportunity to watch and photograph them in Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP, and watched one jump a 4ft fence from a standstill .

I have been to Yellowstone a couple times. Every time without fail the Bison will be crossing the road etc. And a bunch of city folks will have either themselves or vehicles, the RV they rented within 10-20ft. Heading to Rocky Mt National Park next month can’t wait to see the tards walking up to 800lb Bull Elk. When did people stop realizing Mother Nature is a cruel bitch?

How about the guy who decided to take a soak in a sulphuric acid hot spring. They never found a trace of him.

The elk probably won’t be too bad next month. I just got back from doing some wildlife photography in Grand Teton NP, and most of the bull elk are just starting to grow nubs.

Around Sept/Oct is when the rut will be peaking, and the bull elk will be out their minds trying to fight anything that moves.

Don’t forget to make reservations to get into Rocky Mountain NP.

Since I recently moved to Boulder I’ll be spending lots of time in the park.

The Alaska parks are more remote so they generally get a different kind of visitor, and the staff does a good job of educating about wildlife interactions. The animals usually just ignore people and go about their business. I've seen caribou and Dall sheep walk past me like I wasn't there.

Yeah just learned this last week. Luckily it looks like it really only matters if you want to go to Bear Lake Rd area. We used to live in ‘denver and have hiked all over that. So general park access is good before 9am. We are looking forward to doing stuff on west side. Lumpy Ridge and Wild Basin areas. We will probably go in a couple nights after 6pm to Moraine Park to see Elk herd and to stay til dark to do some night shots of Milky Way. Just got Nikon 20mm prime lens can’t wait to use it this trip.

Nice!

I've been shooting with a Nikon d500 and 200-500mm lens for wildlife (and some landscapes), and a d780 with a 24-120mm lens for landscapes (and some wildlife).

Bison are spectacular creatures. they have little fear of most predators.

I’m actually in Yellowstone now and we heard about this while here. There are bison everywhere so it’s not surprising one idiot tried this.

We actually went on a hike yesterday and on our way back, a bison was standing in the middle of the trail blocking it. We decided to take the long way back hah. Those things are massive.
