I'm assuming the juvenile daughter is not the girlfriend. She's just the daughter that told mom that dude had been coming over three nights a week.

What I'm trying to say is that low age of consent laws don't make it right any more than artificially high age of consent laws make it wrong.
What's the solution? I don't know. I just know that the world is a weird place and that people need to be able to establish their own moral code without relying on antiquated legal systems

Unless I'm mistaken, that is discussing the 2 year age differential. I don't believe it applies to someone 16 or older, but it would apply to someone 14 or 15.

Agreed, but I do find it interesting that a 31 year old and a 16 year old is considered creepy now but was perfectly acceptable for most of history. The 16 year old being a female is also plays a big role in everyone's opinion, but I'm not sure if it should. If this was a 31 year old female teacher everyone would be praising the 16 year old male.

And it's not as if some silly law of 18 stops any teenagers from boinking.

Correct. In Oklahoma, 17 yr old goes to jail for 14 yr old. 18 for 15. But 40 boning 16 is creepy but totally legal... Unless he found and solicited her online. Then it's 18 in every state.

No one was killed in this situation. One person was shot and went to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Is it possible mom started shooting out of fear and then daughter screamed stop, mom complied and no one died?
Either way, now with mom in jail like some of the OT wants...looks like things will be okay because the young girl can just move in with 31 year old boyfriend who will gladly support her I'm sure. No way he was just there taking advantage of her poor decision to have the sects with him.

That's how the law works there with that 2 year thing? That's about stupid as frick... I'd much rather see a 17 with a 14 or an 18 with a 15 than a 40 with a 16.

You don't see the issue here? You don't see the difference in development between 14 and 16?

It isn't stupid. The legal age of consent is 16. If you have a problem with it being that low then that's a different issue.
The two year age difference is put in place to protect a minor from being charged with statutory rape for having sex with another minor.
A lot of states also have what are called "Romeo and Juliet" laws which protect someone who has reached age of majority from prosecution for having sex with a minor if that relationship began when they were both minors.
