What percentage of the US population has a dog?
40% was my guess before searching.

How many dogs do you think live in the US.
140 million was my guess before searching.
I was surprised with what google told me on both questions.

You have to go by families since a dog can have more than one owner.

More people own dogs than cats, but more cats are in households than dogs, due to more multi cat homes than multi dog homes.
