Was it plutonium or uranium, and who did he steal it from? I have a bet with a friend, neither of us have seen the movie for a decade plus. He says Iran and uranium, I said plutonium but have no clue on the country so just defaulted to Iraq. Lastly, why does plutonium not get as much press as uranium?

Plutonium from the Libyans.

The plutonium was needed to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity.

I'm sure that in 1985 plutonium is available in every corner drugstore, but in 1955 it's a little hard to come by.

Come on baw, the two major quotes from that scene are:

"Plutonium? Are you telling me this sucker is nuclear?"

And

"Who do you think?! The Libyans!"

Pluto is farther away than Uranus thus harder to get.

Nothing. The Libyans stole it so he could make them a bomb in exchange for keeping the rest for his time machine. He built them a fake bomb so they came after him.

Correct answer. The Libyans gave it to him. He just repurposed it.

They got some used pinball machine parts in exchange.
