Without looking it up do you know why the lowercase J has a dot?

It is called a tittle.
ETA: The prevailing theory is that the tittle was added so that people wouldn’t think it was a stray mark. But people are kinda unsure.

My guess is that is the same shape as the capital j so it needs differences
