The rodeo is a sad shell of its former self. Same with the Houma Oilmens rodeo as well. Smart phones and divorce attorneys are the ruination of society.

Smartphones and making the island as family friendly as possible killed it. The amount of money they make from golf cart sticker sales alone is nothing to scoff at.

ETA even 10 years ago I wouldn’t have brought my kids for Tarpon (if I had kids then), and now we bring them each year when we can go.

Tarpon Rodeo isn't even worth going to anymore if you don't own a camp out there and planned to be there anyways. A few dumbfricks ruined the fun for everyone. Man that used to be a wild few days.

There are few places in the world worse to be trapped at for a weekend than Grand Isle

It’s not a few dumb fricks. It’s just one of those things that faded away. You’ll never see the Tarpon Rodeo like it was 25 -30 years ago. It was crazy. Everybody wanted to go to grand isle that weekend. It was a second Mardi Gras.

I mean it was still wild/a damn good time 10-15 years ago until people started falling out of trucks and dying

but yeah thanks to cell phone cameras it will never be what it was like back in the day like you said
