With physical Bars closed, why not have a mobile, food truck type bar?

Food truck converted to a bar with a trailer for a tent, tables and chairs. Maybe some bar games like darts and washer toss. Some big fans

Maybe have it so private parties can rent it and the Booze Bus comes and serves at your chosen location

Come up, get your drinks, Hang out or go back in.

Seems like a golden opportunity

Some taco truck parked in front of our neighborhood a month or so ago and had a separate margarita bar from Olive or Twist. They seemed to do pretty well. We bought tacos and 2 rounds of margaritas.

It’s hot as shite, I would think most people would rather just drink at home if the alternative is hanging out in a parking lot

I know nothing about the process but I would guess getting permits approved to open something like that is slow as shite right now too

I imagine there’s all kinds of laws surrounding driving a truck with open containers

We had one in our neighborhood around when the lockdown started. I don’t know why they are more popular

Well that’s just stupid. Put an interlock on the truck and forbid the driver from drinking. Problem solved

I realize there’s probably a ton of red tape to discourage entrepreneurs. Just seems like there could be some innovative ways to get around it.

Like have whoever is renting the truck pay by the bottle and simply charge for the service.

Probably wouldn’t be legal legal but neither is the bullshite governor honor code is pulling.

Desperate times call for desperate measures

The permitting hoops to jump through in order to pull this off are substantial

Have to have the right liquor license and there are restrictions on where in a particular city food trucks just serving food are allowed. Add liquor to the equation and the spots they can set up are very small.

So basically, worthless bureaucrats stand in the path of solutions made necessary by worthless bureaucrats?

They own the truck too and it’s awesome. Used to be permanently parked at Tin Roof.

I could bore you to tears with regulations, however, depending on where you are, here are just a few of the normal issues that I can fire off:

-Approved barrier as perimeter
-Approved entry and egress, as per fire code
-Perimeters = ADA approved bathrooms
-ID check
-Delivery/transport of alcohol beverages by approved vehicle
-Special use permit / catering license with alcohol serving variance
-Catering a wedding party with open bar is extremely different in one which alcohol is exchanged for money (hint hint: sales and sin taxes)
-open container laws
-Beer & Wine vs Beer/wine/liquor permits
-most city ordinances have a 30 to 90 day minimum requirement before event to file for permit

I could go on and on and on....these are just a few I can rattle off the top of my head. It all depends on where you apply.

It’s taken me 6 months and counting just to get my fricking passport renewed, I can’t imagine how long permits like that would take right now
