Had the same thought when I saw the article. One of the platforms the Democratic party ran on was that minimum wage wasn't a living wage. Yet, you continue to see areas where Democrats have control over still now paying a "living wage". I don't know all the politics about how you increase government employee wages, but if they really were worried about that wouldn't jurisdictions controlled by democrats be pushing for these increases? Then again, that may also mean they would have to pay their staffers a "living wage" which reduces the amount of consulting fees they can pay their spouse/family owned consulting firms

There is a plan.
First, The Advocate runs an article talking about future pressure to increase wages, "due to competition from Amazon".
In a couple of Sundays, we will see an article about how government leaders are really struggling to find the money to fund these "basic, necessary services".
Then in about a month, there will be an article about how we need a tax increase, and the council will magically put one on the ballot.
This is all about paying a living wage without using the controversial "living wage" term. They know that kite won't fly... so they are trying another way.

quote:same thing happens at Amazon, einstein. those 2 standing around usually work in quality control and make the most money.
Amazon sends out one employee on a truck. City parish sends 4. One to drive, one to work, 2 to stand around.

According to previous reports, Amazon employees will receive comprehensive benefits on their first day — including medical, dental, vision, 401(K) savings with a 50% company match,
50 cents on the dollar for the first 4%. That's a terrible match.

Dumb People Working employees wouldn't last long when the found out they actually had to work.

Lexington has had two Amazon facilities for over a decade and a third one is currently under construction.
That article is nonsense. Amazon turns over employees like hot cakes.

LOL!
OMG how clueless they are. Between this and the "breakage" due to break ins, this place will run a deficit.
