And to beat that disease right there all one has to do is be a good, responsible person.

I truly don’t believe that your brain has been hijacked and forces your body to put drugs into it.

Yeah, like I said, I figured you were going to go down that road. I'm sure you're right; you understand more about it than the doctors, therapists, people who are sober now, and the researchers who've spent countless hours on the issue.

You've single-handedly changed my mind. Let's kill 'em all.

I have watched my sibling destroy their life for the past 17 years. She is the most selfish POS I know... she loves drugs. She has had more chances at help than anyone in this world.

Tell me, where in this equation should I feel sorry for her

You will feel sorry for her one day.

No, I don’t believe in every goddamn thing that science pumps out or agrees on. That’s such a lame response when someone disagrees or questions something. I guess science is batting 1.000, ay?

Anyways, I believe that people have the choice to put drugs in their system or not. I don’t care what you label addiction. It can instantly be treated or maybe even cured in some cases by caring about being a quality person over getting high.

The rank and file heroin users aren’t the ones needing narcan. It’s mostly those experimenting, pushing the high farther, using fentanyl for the kick (not just for the cheap), etc.

Anyone that uses heroin habitually will require narcan or die at some point. It's just how it goes.

You see heroin dealers carrying and selling narcan along with their “TNT”, or other designer named high powered mix. It’s part of their “sales tactic”.

I think you've been watching too much TV Narcan is an open script in a lot of states so addicts can buy it at will (they just don't because why spend their money on it). The reason so many people are dropping out now is because of the unannounced introduction of fent to heroin. Addicts are also chasing the high, so the dealer with the most potent shite is the most popular. Which is usually the guy cutting it with 75% fent these days

Woah.

Did he die from a gunshot or did the narcan wear off and he died from that?

The drugs probably also wore off, i would assume blood loss

I assume that this is an attempt to try and discredit the medically accepted concept of addiction being a disease.

How is it discrediting?

First of all, the statement of “medically accepted” is a claim to authority that is vacuous. Medical opinions vary and change over time on all sorts of complex conditions, especially those involving behavior and cognition.

Calling addiction a disease is, simply stated, a half truth, and furthermore has no real clinical benefit.

It’s a disease? Fine.

A disease like cancer? Or like bi-polar disorder? Or like obesity? Or like herpes?

Every disease has a different treatment modality. Some involve almost purely behavioral modification techniques, others require surgery, medication, or other therapies.

Arguing over whether drug addiction is a disease or not is simply pointless.

I never said anything about killing them

I’d like to treat it more like an evacuation notice when a hurricane is approaching. In some high risk areas the government lets you know that if you stay, they will not be sending you help. Before you stay, you absolutely know the consequences and can decide to take your life into your own hands or not.

That’s how I feel about drug addicts.

Feel however you want.

They are hurting themselves. They are hurting their families. They are hurting their communities. And as this case proves, they are hurting those trying to save them from themselves.

Well I’m
Glad they don’t stop using it. I’ve been hit with Narcan about 6x unfortunately. I’m still alive because of it directly. And it gave me a shot to turn my life around.

By your logic, we should let people drown too since they always attempt to drown their rescuer as well. Sounds stupid, doesn't it?

Well, we do live in a world based on feelings and not facts from people with authority in their fields of expertise. So, I guess that is to be expected.

Why did they take so long to notice he grabbed his gun? Obviously I'm armchair QBing right now, but it seems like a delayed reaction.
