I have 2 Speed Queens, one is 22 years old and one is about 7 or 8. Never done anything to either and they get used hard. There is a reason commercial laundromats use them. They are solid and get my drawers as clean as they need to be. Anything that doesn’t go in them goes to the cleaners.

I bought a speed queen washer for my wife last year. It seems to be well made and is a good bit heavier than the Kenmore we had before. The reviews were really good . Time will tell.

Had a new GE that crapped out in one month, the next day we had a speed queen and haven’t looked back. I’d rather spend $800 a year on new clothes instead of a washing machine that breaks.

Just had my 13 year old whirlpool top loader fixed. Clutch and gears were worn out as Napoleon said. Repairman said do not get rid of it. Said it was much better made than the new fangled stuff that is now sold.

Wirecutter can have his LG junk. We bought a top of the line LG with the glass top and all the bells etc. It was a HE and would go out of balance over 90% of the time. It would then reset the controls to start over so it would take 1 1/2 - 2 hours to do a load. Where is the savings? It would have very little water in the tub to wash so your clothes were never really clean. We donated it to our church's thrift store after only 13 months. We bought a SQ and it has never gone out of balance and you can set the fill level as high as needed.
My wife loves it and it cleans our clothes.

I've never met a front loader that can clean like a machine with an agitator.

Then you've never met a Pellerin Milnor. Yeah they are super expensive commercial washers but those mother frickers can clean some clothes. I've seen it thousands of times. It's the reason hotels and hospitals use them.

ETA: And they are made in Kenner
