Why does it piss you off so much? Sure they may be wrong but no reason to risk it. Do you remember what happened in Atlanta 5 or so years ago? They weren’t expecting much and people winded up stranded on the interstate in freezing weather. Add to that a bunch of kids on school busses and it’s just not worth it.

Also a lot more kids ride the bus these days. Buses in S LA on roads with potential for ice and snow... no one wants that.

They are doing it because of the risk/reward decision. Cancel school, nothing happens, and the downside is a few ticked off parents. Keep school scheduled, snow/freezing rain is a bit worse than expected, and a bus or student gets in an accident due to the conditions and everyone is pissed.

Kids rode buses 20-25 years ago too when school wasn’t being cancelled for a mere .25 inches of freezing precipitation.

I mean, you'd have to have minimal critical thinking skills to think someone doesn't understand that. But hey, you try to drop a blizzard joke and

Anyway, schools are closed up here. That's all I've got to say about that.

It's probably $50 now, assuming that 20 would have been smartly invested.

Well, this was a good thread. I guess there's a 30 page threshold.

This set up is how we get our best snow totals but it can be extremely specific to areas that get banding. Of course, it has to snow first. A warm nose can ruin everything. But this is about as good as it gets. Hope we luck out in my area of Baton Rouge but if not, this teacher is off of work tomorrow!!

Is HRRR ending precip earlier than other models or is it just giving us an extended period of snow?
