What ya think of all this Dr.????
I still believe timing is the key as it always is with these events. However, I believe that this one has some teeth to it and we're looking at an event that shuts us down from central Louisiana on south through Wednesday. The temps will likely not get high enough in most areas on Wednesday to melt the ice/snow for traveling. I'm worried about the icing though as this amount of ice would be like a hurricane hitting the area as far as downed lines and power outages.
I don't usually say much about winter storms because of their difficulty in predicting, except for my paid clients.

No link, I just got a recorded message and email from Mercy.
quote:
Good morning, Mercy parents, faculty and staff! East Baton Rouge Parish just announced that their schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 28. Our Lady of Mercy School will also be closed on Tuesday due to ice/snow that may cause hazardous driving conditions. Once we have information regarding Wednesday I will pass it along to you. Again, school will be closed on Tuesday.

That's pathetic when a fricking weatherman laughs at a major university for its decision to NOT close during this severe icing event.
When a weatherman laughs at you for not taking a weather event seriously, you're fricking retarded.

I really don't care either way if we have class or not, I just don't get what they are trying to prove by doing it the way they do. Ah well.

LSU had historically done this as long as I've been producing reports, which include suggested closings for continuity of operations purposes. I guess they choose to be cautiously optimistic about closures and with winter events I can see their point. This storm though is not one I'd be willing to roll the dice on.
