I highly recommend that you prepare for this storm the same way you would for a hurricane landfall in terms of power outages and travel disruptions. In many areas, downed power lines and trees would lead to widespread power outages and impassable roads.

If I lose power when its 15 degrees outside and cant drive, were gonna have a problem.

Really hope LSU doesn't make us go to school for a half a day tomorrow just to get stuck at school till Thursday morning because everything is closed

Are we anticipating that LSU will cancel school for this thing?

Farewell, spring break

I don't think they will close early. Too stubborn to do so.

I don't know if they'll do this. They have to know that a lot of us have already invested a good bit of money into spring break

they will follow EBR parish schools. Surprised I haven't heard of school closings yet. After friday I think everyone will err on the side of caution...lots of wrecks.

I am guessing late afternoon announcements will be made.

So judging from GeauxMedics last posted projections, Alexandria should see snow but not ice correct??...

I'll take that...Ice is a bitch...Stuck at home with no power is not cool

very wise advice. I can guarantee you the hotel rooms will be all booked up from those that can't make it back across bridges.

BTW,You left Praireville out.

I got from Prairieville to LSU's campus and back both Friday and Saturday last week without any issues. As long as you take Burbank/Highland you're pretty much in the clear.

Not sure if excited about no class Tuesday or annoyed.

I have 5 classes tomorrow, all 1.5 hours. So I will have a lot to catch up on by missing tomorrow.

On the other hand, no school on my day from hell

Well if it ends up being 3 days, that's a lot of class to make up

And you forget how big of assholes some teachers are

Because some people have professors that will dock them points for missing a make up day, heard many a student bitch about that with the makeup Saturday last year.

I'd MUCH rather be stuck at home with no power from an ice storm than no power in August from a hurricane.

Meat doesn't spoil in the ice, because you can simply leave it outside. You can put more clothes on. Fireplaces are there to keep warm. Gas appliances allow one to cook food. You can leave your beer outside so that it stays cold.
