Yea, same experience. The door cost $900 at Lowes or HD and they quoted about $3,200 for the complete job. No major fit work, just remove discard and reinstall.

I did need some leveling and a little flooring work done at the bottom but they said " we don't do that" hire you a carpenter and we'll schedule with him so he can come in and do his work."

Yea, If I have to hire a second carpenter I'm 100% sure I'm going to hire "One" that can do the whole job.

They obviously don't like installing doors.

I'd pose that question to the company's office, they have beat most contractors prices on my house and my neighbors.

About 2 years ago , I had about 9 windows replaced by Lowes.
Just standard , double paned windows sold there. Probably about the cheapest ones they had.
I paid about $5400 to have 9 replaced.
, $600 per window.

Do not ever use those jackarses. They are overpriced, back work ethic, and won't follow up on calls for repairs.

Each door 800 plus tax 1700 (making certain assumptions)
Demo each door 125 250
install each door 250 500
Trim Labor each door 80 160
Trim Material each dr 45 90
Paint each door 150 300
New Hardware each 85 x 2
Install hardware 35x 2
Haul trash 200
Foam insulation 25

total thus far is $3,465 is cost without project management, overhead and profit

34% mark up is common...which is about 1200 on this job

which gets you to 4600. they likely are marking up the door in their estimate..

6000 quote could be the doors are more expensive or they are just marking it up more...which right now is happening everywhere..

The cost of windows is up 40%...lead times are averaging 16 weeks..

supply chain is a mess, doors are better than windows at the moment

What about 16K for a roof install that just a few years ago was 8K? Roofing company won't give estimate...only says they will take what insurance company pays and put in for supplemental pay.

I asked them to repair two windows that they installed about two years ago that came lose during Ida and to install one new window in a third window. I was told that in Louisiana and Texas ONLY, they only accept orders for 4, or more windows. Also, they claim the two windows that came lose are “Acts of God” and not covered. I say it was poor installation from the beginning because only two, oof the seven windows they installed came lose.

In short, I would never use them again. They don’t stand behind their work and in some cases don’t even want your work.

Change roofing companies. That’s complete bullshite. Idc about the price, but no estimate is proof you should bail.

No they haven't. They literally advertise along the lines of beating out all the competitions prices.

Let's go Brandon!

The installer for Superior in LC has a 6 month backlog right now. Imagine waiting 6 months to have your windows installed.

I hired someone a few years back that had a steady employment history in customer service at window world. One of the worst employees I have ever had. Ultimately had to fire this person within a couple of months. It was bad.. If window world kept her on for years I want no part of window world.
