but wouldn't a quality pair of wrap around sunglasses be just as effective
I wear them while I'm outside of the vehicle.
I wear prescription glasses to drive and haven't found a comfortable pair of dark glasses that fit over them.

I just don’t have an inspection sticker.
Haven’t been pulled over either

Cops get them ALL the time, be a cop???
I was offered one when I was still doing what my username suggests but I never used it. They said it was for my safety, my arse just didn't leave guns in my vehicle.

I just get mine done as dark as I want I never have any issues. I think the front windows are like 20% and the back is around 15%. strip on windshield is around 10 inches. In covid times I doubt you get stopped ever just for window tint.

rear window.
Unless things have changed, you can tint the rear window as dark as you like. Rear door windows also. Driver/passenger window and windshield are what they’ll be looking at.

I used to be able to get one. It was called a Sun Allergy Affidavit. Now they have messed with it so bad, it's impossible to get. my dr won;t sign his part, the State Police make you get finger printed and all kind of stupid shite. Pisses me off, now I have to find a tag place that will turn a blind eye the tint.
I have the same issue as you, bright light, even bright cloudy days (may be worse) affect me greatly.

Nope.
Front 40
Rear 25
Rear Windshield 12
Don't know why I am being downvoted. It is on the State Police Exemption Form.

Like I said, unless things have changed. My 2008 Ford super duty has jet black rear door window and rear window tint, from the factory. Probably limo 5%. Never been hassled about it nor checked at inspection station. However, they check the front regularly.
Just my .02
ETA: In Louisiana 32:361.1, there is also this tidbit
(4) The light transmittance requirement of this Section does not apply to windows behind the driver on trucks, busses, trailers, motor homes, multipurpose passenger vehicles.
What constitutes a multipurpose passenger vehicle?

If you have an SUV you can go as dark as you want on the back windows including the 2nd row seats. You can go 35% on the front door windows and not get problems. 20% puts you on notice to police.
They have a 70% ceramic tint out there you can put on the windshield where it cuts down on heat and glare, but does not appear tinted. Its still illegal but hard to notice.
