If something happens to my wife, I would hope not. But knowing my dumbass and women, I'll get marrried again.

I wouldn't get married again. I'm just not sure I'd be willing to put myself out there again like that.

I would hope I would be smarter this time, but I have my doubts.

My wife and I have been together for 22 years. If anything ever happened to her or our marriage, I think I'd just call it a day.

If I met someone through the normal course of life, so be it, but I don't think I'd seek it out, hypothetically, of course.

We have a number of older male friends who are single. The one thing missing from their lives is someone to help them make decisions. Some things they have decided to do have been total disasters that take months to accomplish and then they find they've been bamboozled. Not all women could help, but a lot of women have enough common sense to sniff out a scam as it begins to happen.

One man we know has been trying to get a tree cut down for two and a half years. He can't seem to make up his mind and he has had multiple arborists out, but he just can't decide. A second mind might have the tree down and cut up for firewood already burned by now.

Wait...

I was looking for the tax break doubling for me.

I mean, the only expense would be food from a P&L perspective.

Pluses: House, car, utilities, hotels, would be expenses shared.
Minuses: air travel, healthcare, constant b*tching not shared.

So, should I just co-habitate?

Maybe I should plan exit strategies.

I was married 19 years the first shot, and 19 this time. I am not sure I am fit to be by myself anymore; I'd probably go stir crazy.

I am WAY too lazy to get remarried. I have enough on my plate with myself.

Absolutely not.

I don’t regret my decision at all. But one time and never again…

Where did you find such a woman? That’s exactly what I’m looking for as a divorced dad in his 40’s.

I'm now 72 and 21 years into my 3rd marriage after 6 years of cohabitating before marriage.

Chances are pretty good I'll predecease her since I'm 6 yrs. older than she is------------BUT, if I lose her before I go, it's not going to happen again at my age and growing fondness of a peaceful life with no drama and trauma.

Regarding the tax break for being married: Trust me it's not worth it. 10X cheaper to file single once you add in all the "wants and needs." Figure out what a partner will cost, donate it to your church, and you will get money back every year. Win/Win.

This is how I feel as well. 35 and divorced with a 4 year old and almost 3 year old. We separated exactly 2 years ago. I’ve really come to understand how much I value my freedom and independence. It’d be pretty hard to give that up at this point.

I read this to her and she goes, “YUP!”.
