Many licensed therapists, MDs, and tenured scientists believe that Jesus is God. You think history started at The Enlightenment?
Hell, Christianity, specifically Protestantism, created the Scientific Revolution, the Enlightenment, and secular society. You’re welcome!
I would posit that the groups listed have faith that Jesus is god but do not proclaim to know for a certainty that they are correct. If they sincerely think they are correct and there is no way they could be wrong they are without faith. Faith does not need nor look for proof...it is a far higher human emotion than seeking proof or possessing proof.

Yes but you won't be family as you know it to be here.

The Question About the Resurrection.*
23
f On that day Sadducees approached him, saying that there is no resurrection.* They put this question to him,
24
g saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies* without children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up descendants for his brother.’
25
Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died and, having no descendants, left his wife to his brother.
26
The same happened with the second and the third, through all seven.
27
Finally the woman died.
28
Now at the resurrection, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had been married to her.”
29
* Jesus said to them in reply, “You are misled because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God.
30
At the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angels in heaven.
31
And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you* by God,
32
h ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”
33
When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

No. Just skip red meat 6 Fridays out of the year and you’re good.

Thanks for that. I get it.
So, I (an atheist) will be able to explain to my MIL (a life-long Pentacostal Holiness believer) what none of her ordained Pentacostal Holiness pastor relatives have been able to explain to her.
How ironic is that?
More likely, they tried, and it just didn't sink in.

FYI: The afterlife is covered in pretty good detail by mainline Mormon theology.
The thought is folks’ bodies will be as they appear at around 35 years-old and will be physical bodies.
Not sure on the ability to bang.
(Peptides in Heaven?)
Sorry, that y’all’s homework to research that.

So my question to you holy rollers is, once they are all dead and gone, how will this tangled mess work itself out in Heaven?
She wont remember any of them, because they brought her pain and suffering during her time here. If they are there also, she will know them as new creatures in Christ and celebrate that with them for eternity
quote:
Isaiah 65:17
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
quote:
Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away
quote:
Ecclesiastes 9: 3-4
The dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
quote:
Luke 9: 59-62
But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
There simply wont be any "looking back" on former things, in his Kingdom. You are there for him, not each other
quote:
The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

The only reason I would want to be there is to be reunited with loved ones, including animals. We had a special relationship on earth. If that's not carried over, it doesn't sound very appealing.
But IYAM it's just wishful thinking on our part to rationalize our fear of death. I don't see any indication of a benevolent higher power at work in this world so I doubt there's anything waiting in the next. I wish I didn't feel that way and I'm envious of people who do have faith. I think it makes life easier. But I just don't see it.

I have pondered this question a great deal for many years. The angle that puzzled me the most is what happens to a family where 1 person lives a holy life and the other person does not. We are told that in heaven there are no sorrows or longing for anything. If the holy person enters heaven but their unholy family member does not, how would the holy person not have sorrow or longing for their unholy family member (who did not make it to heaven)? Through logic, I concluded that it would be necessary for those entering heaven to have their memories reprogrammed.

We're supposed to.
I've love to see my parents and grand parents.

I have no basis as to what becomes of animals, but as far as people, they will be as close and beloved as your most endeared family members. You wont miss that connection, because the new connections will be stronger and eternal
There will be no more pain and suffering. Life down here is a time bomb waiting on the death of those all around you. That is removed forever. No more tears. "He wipes away all tears". No one is there to hurt you, to separate you from your material things, to break your heart in a love triangle, etc. There is no fear of forming a bond with someone, because they will never reject you
Thats why you wont remember the former things. Theres a song that I have enjoyed over the years called "Heaven" with these lyrics:
quote:
Love without measure, Space without time
Life with no crying, Will one day be mine
Hearts never breaking, Hands that don't fight
Days that don't end with the darkness of night
Friends that don't leave you, Smiles that don't fade
Nobody's hurtin', no one's afraid
No hungry children, Loved ones don't die
No sad farewells, there'll be no more goodbyes
All the burdens and longings, We bring to this place
Disappear in the moment, we look on His face
That's what heaven will be
Heaven
