Will we ever see a universally loved cultural icon like Jordan again?

Jordan was not universally loved. He played a team sport lol. I dont think Utah/Pacer/Knicks fans were huge Jordan fans lol. Just because yall were all 8 years old and had no loyalty doesnt mean that he was universally loved.

Tiger was far more "universally loved". Has to be an individual sport.

Probably not in the era of social media, especially when just saying nothing is enough to get angry cancel culture mobs to attack.

I don't even know if there will ever be another cultural icon on Jordan's level, much less one like Jordan that's universally loved.

Universally loved, no. Greatest cultural athlete of his generation, absolutely.

Tiger's a good comparison. But was he the global star that MJ was? Was/is golf as big as basketball globally?

Tiger definitely transformed golf in a bigger way than MJ did basketball.

For me though it's still MJ. I think The Last Dance did more to hurt his legacy than help it (though I thoroughly enjoyed it, best thing on TV in months). I never realized he was such an arse.

Still the GOAT and he wins 8 in a row if he doesn't "retire" for two years.

Yeah, he pretty much was. Of course there were people who hated him cause he always beat their team. Most of today's superstars like LeBron & Kobe(less so now that he's dead) have just as many haters as fans.
