Sorry, you need to speak with delta. He spoke it into existence. It's likely going to be our first real threat in months. Conditions aren't that great though so we'll see what it looks like in a week.

By threat I don't mean us, specifically, just a tropical threat to someone.

This is exactly why South Mississippians don’t like Delta Mississippians.

Yes, regardless if a storm forms and hits land somewhere the season still occurs from June 1st - November 30th every year.

Nothing on NHC for next 5 days. GFS shows nothing for 2 weeks. Might be a quiet year baws!

You're taking a mighty big swing at taking Peej's place, delta.

FWIW, the pattern from the GFS and Euro in the timeframe both of them have the storm is downright sloppy across the Atlantic. Looks sheary at first glance and would likely end up out to sea and stay weak if anything resembling that upper level pattern is over the Atlantic by next weekend.

It's not, that's the point. The 2nd season is basically beginning. We get the usual July quiet time, but that's over.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. Eastern Tropical Atlantic:
A tropical wave is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa
later this weekend. Environmental conditions are expected to be
conducive for some gradual development of this system while it
moves westward across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic
during the early to middle part of next week.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.

Historically, the worst hurricanes hit in September. We still have a ways to go.

I am currently in the Sahara Desert and I can tell you this much.
1. In 2020 we had significant sand storm traveling across the Sahara traveling west, eventually forming Hurricane Laura.

2. Two days ago we had a significant sand storm pass through my field moving west.

3. Temperatures in my field are significantly less than previous years.

Not sure any of this has an effect. I live half of my life in the area where Laura was conceived and the other half of my life in the area where she made landfall as Cat4.

Scary
